As the name suggests, this traditional French bistro is located in the 7th arrondissement, just a few strides from the Eiffel tower and the Boulevard des Invalides. As such, it inhabits a neighbourhood of breezy, residential boulevards mostly tenanted by banks and real estate agents, making Le Bistrot’s flamboyant red facade all the more eye-catching. When the weather cooperates, you can take in some sun on the terrace. Otherwise, get cosy in the restaurant’s classically Parisian interior: crystal chandeliers, exposed beams and card tables laid with white table clothes and miniature shaded lamps. The menu is traditional French, with Bourgogne escargots, confit of duck flanked by garlic new potatoes, a gorgeous selection of Auvergne cheeses and, for dessert, a Tarte Tatin served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Lunch and dinner prices are low for the neighbourhood and since finding decent food at good value within vicinity of la Tour Eiffel is no mean feat, you may want to keep this address in mind.
